Data sources

Entries are based on official heritage inventories, the Mérimée database of the French Ministry of Culture, Wikidata, Wikipedia and specialist publications. Where possible, each entry links to its inventory record. Please report errors via the link on each entry.

Share images for entries without a photograph are generated by the site (text and graphics), with no third-party image.

Translations and artificial intelligence

The English and Dutch translations of entries, routes and biographies were produced with the help of AI from the French texts, which remain authoritative. “Custom routes” are generated by Claude (Anthropic) from the site’s database, with automatic validation.

Personal data

The site uses no cookies. Visits are measured anonymously and in aggregate (Vercel Web Analytics, cookie-free). Your preferences (language, map style) are stored only in your browser. The “Near me” feature uses your location in your browser; it is neither transmitted nor stored. Custom-route requests only send the chosen city, duration and theme.

Licence and open data

Entry data and texts are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0): free reuse, including commercial, with the credit “Art Déco Belgique — art-deco-belgique.be”.
