Maison bourgeoise Sole Mio, Euphrosina Beernaertstraat 43 — Ostende

This eclectic house, designed by the Ostend architect C. Pil and built in 1897 according to the land registry, received a new Art Deco façade cladding in 1928, as an inscription in the gable shows. It is part of an ensemble of Belle Époque town houses (nos. 37-45). The rendered façade is marked by a wide window projection ending in a shouldered gable crowned with a ball. Art Deco bas-reliefs show a star in a lighthouse beam and a sun above the sea, and the railing of the bel-étage window has stylised motifs in stained glass. The interior preserves an entrance hall with a mosaic floor and a marble staircase. The house has been protected as a monument since 2005.
