Apartment building in a sober, functional Art Deco style, built for F. Embrechts to a design dated 1937 (façade inscription) by the architect Gustave Fierens, in Berchem; it contained nine rental flats and a caretaker's dwelling. On a reinforced-concrete frame, the symmetrical four-bay, five-storey façade combines yellow Silesian brick and abundant white stone on a bluestone plinth, with paired rectangular oriels rising in the centre. The wrought-iron door by the J. Gowie workshop (Berchem) survives, as does the lift with a wooden car installed in 1938 by E. Thièry. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
