Art Deco apartment building erected under the 1934 building application for Henriette Pirotte-Meerburg, to a design by the architect Louis Van Rijmenant drawn as early as 1931 for the diamond dealer Leibus Berger, who abandoned it, and taken over in 1933 with minimal changes to the plan; the contractor was Gustaaf Moons of Borgerhout. The inventory considers it representative of the architect's work around 1930. Of two unequal bays, it has a basement and seven storeys under a flat roof; the sober façade, in wine-red Belvédère-type brick with little natural stone, has so-called "Dudok" joints (recessed bed joints and flush head joints), and a three-sided bay window rising over the upper floors accentuates the side bay, crowned by an undulating top. The wooden joinery of the door and windows, with their shutter boxes, largely survives, as does the wrought-iron cellar grille with an Art Deco spiral motif. The red-marble-clad entrance and stair hall keeps the original four-person lift, installed in 1934 by the Daelemans firm, with a wooden cage and a brass control panel. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
