Maison Art déco Ernest Snoeck, Sportstraat 396 — Gand

Art Deco terraced house of three storeys under a flat roof, signed "Er. Snoeck, arch.", according to a building permit application of 1937; the neighbouring house at no. 398 is by the same architect. Its red-brick façade on a bluestone plinth shows affinities with the ocean-liner style: a rounded oriel on the upper floor topped by a balcony with a tubular railing, and a sequence of round leaded-glass windows in the door bay. The transoms of the door and the ground-floor window retain stained glass with geometric motifs. The building is included in the architectural heritage inventory.
