Art Deco town house built for Louis Huyghebaert, a tax administrator, to a 1927 design by the Brussels architect Franz Vandenbroucke-Eeman, known mainly in Etterbeek for works in a Beaux-Arts style tinged with regionalism; the inventory knows of no other activity by him in Antwerp than two houses on the Generaal Lemanstraat. Splayed at the corner with the Doornelei, the house has two storeys and six unequal bays under a slate pseudo-mansard and occupies the whole plot, except for a small enclosed courtyard on the street side. Its sober cornice façade, in red brick in cross bond on a plinth of brown Poulseur sandstone in random bond and bluestone, has white stone surrounds and an imitation-stone frieze beneath the cornice; the composition alternates the bays with an emphasis on the entrance, with rectangular openings, discreet tendril ornament and a recessed left-hand bay. The wrought-iron window railings bear a typical basket motif; the wooden joinery of the windows and dormers survives, as does the wrought-iron door. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
