"Evergreen" is a large townhouse designed in 1931 by the architect Karel Van Looy in a restrained Art Deco style, for G. Van Merode. According to the inventory, Van Looy, active mainly in the 1930s and highly productive in this part of Deurne, worked with standard models that he usually signed; this house is one of the largest of his works in the area, and the same standard plan is found at nos. 90 and 124 of the street. Of two bays and three storeys under a flat roof, the top one treated as a slate mansard, the house has a red-brick cornice façade on a low plinth; the wide bay is emphasised by a curved bay window over two storeys, decorated on its broad cement bands with geometric Art Deco ornament and topped by a wrought-iron railing, and then by a broad round-arched dormer in the form of a curved pediment bearing geometric and floral Art Deco reliefs. In the door bay, cement panels with Art Deco reliefs bear the name "EVER-GREEN"; the door, the windows with stained glass in the fanlights and the front-garden railing designed by Van Looy survive. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
