Early Art Deco apartment building designed in 1922 by the architects Jan Vanhoenacker, John Van Beurden and Jos Smolderen for the hotelier and developer Armand Janssens, chairman of the “Terminus Palace Hotel”, with a shop and seven rental flats; begun in June 1922 and probably completed in 1923. On a reinforced-concrete frame using the Hennebique system, the three-bay, eight-storey façade, rendered in “simili pierre” above a marble-clad ground floor, is dominated by a full-width bow window from the first to the third floor. Fluted piers, floral garlands in relief, medallions and Ionic capitals are typical of early Art Deco; the wooden shopfront with its coloured stained glass and the 1922 Otis lift survive. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
