Ensemble of two commercial and apartment buildings in the Art Deco style, built in 1936 to designs by the architect A. Bibouw for Jozef Vanden Heede, an industrialist from Petegem (Deinze). This semi-detached complex of three storeys under a flat roof combines red-brick upper floors with white-painted horizontal (bands) and vertical (pilaster strips, bay-window brackets) elements. The continuous corbelled upper bay windows have rounded corner piers in brown brick. In 1987 the two ground-floor shopfronts, which had horizontal glazing bars in the transoms of the shop windows, were replaced by a single one (a pharmacy) designed by the architect Willy Vaes (Tielt); the joinery is new. The ensemble is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
