Art Deco building that builder-contractor Jules Mees had built for himself to a 1929 design, combining his own flat, on the ground and first floors, with rental flats on the upper floors. The five-storey façade with cornice, in red and anthracite brick generously combined with natural stone on a bluestone base, is centred on a three-sided oriel rising over three storeys and mixes floral motifs (baskets and tendrils) with geometric ones. The ground floor of the private flat retains its Art Deco interior: marble cladding in the hall, joinery, stucco, parquet floors, stained glass, wrought-iron balustrades and light fittings. The building, now a hotel, is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
