This group of three linked Art Deco apartment buildings was designed in 1922 by the architect Edward Van Not for J. Cassiers and son, and built during 1923. The contractor was Joseph Jennes of Borgerhout, concessionaire of the French Hennebique reinforced concrete system. The client himself occupied an apartment in the middle building (no. 78). The buildings belong to a group of Art Deco flats designed by Van Not between 1922 and 1927 in this city block, and rank among the first generation of high-standing apartment buildings in Antwerp after the First World War. They stand within a protected urban landscape.
