In the 1920s the City of Lille bought the Barrois property in Fives and had a 1,112-seat festival hall built there by the Lille architect Marcel Cools. The vast interior volume is dominated by a single balcony and adorned with a plant-motif decoration in staff (plaster). The street façade, eclectic in inspiration, is tinged with Art Deco. The hall was inaugurated in 1928 by Roger Salengro and listed as a historic monument by order of 21 April 2000.
