The so-called Rommens house, in the Art Deco style, built in 1934 to a design by the architect R. Van Steenbergen senior. This villa under a pseudo-mansard roof of Flemish tiles is characterised by a playful combination of planes and volumes: on the street side the façade is broken in the centre by an asymmetrical gable flanked by a three-quarter-round corner tower, built-in brick planters and a projecting wing with a terrace. The brown brick facing is lined horizontally by deeply raked joints and by sills and string courses; the varied rectangular windows are joined by portholes and paired round-arched windows, and the joinery with coloured stained glass and the faience window sills survive. Inside, the original layout is intact except for the kitchen, and the Art Deco interior is well preserved: built-in furniture, a wooden staircase, doors with stained glass, faience and wood panelling, tiled and parquet floors. The house has been protected as a monument since 1999.
