Maison Art déco, Wagenmakersstraat 4 — Courtrai

An Art Deco house of 1921, built for V. Glorieux of the "Miroiteries de Courtrai" to designs by Werner Van Spranghe (Kortrijk); the Glorieux mirror factory, founded in 1920, stood to the south. This gabled house is marked by its panels of diagonally laid brickwork, the shape of its windows and porch, the iron grilles of the porch door and window, and an oriel on a stepped base. A permit application for a warehouse with two living rooms to the right of the house dates from 1928, and the left bay was adapted in 1945 by the insertion of a door.
