Immeuble à appartements Art déco, Alfons Schneiderlaan 179

Art Deco apartment building of three storeys under a flat roof, built to a 1937 planning file by the architect Karel Van Looy for J. Bossaerts, with one flat per floor. Its corniced façade, on a rusticated base incorporating the door of the basement garage, combines a broad window bay, marked by a two-storey oriel rounded on its left side and crowned by a balcony with tubular railings and a stepped Art Deco ornament, with a narrow recessed door bay pierced by round windows. The top floor, in dark brick, suggests a mansard storey; the original Art Deco door, with its side light protected by wrought-iron bars, survives. It is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
