Apartment building or town house with an Art Deco design, named 'VILLA MARIE' after the inscription above the door and built in 1935 according to the cadastre; it belongs to the interwar ensemble on the Graaf de Smet de Naeyerlaan (nos. 52-56, 60-70, 74-80, 84-98). A single-fronted building of two bays and four storeys under a gabled roof, it is built in yellow brick with rendered parapets and gable, on a bluestone plinth. The wide projecting window bay between corner pilasters carries a continuous bay window on corbels that ends in a stylised Art Deco gable; the narrow door bay, also between pilasters, has a similar but more modest crowning. The Art Deco decoration is concentrated in the gable, with windows under typical three-sided lintels, and in the stylised cast-iron balcony railing, whose design is repeated in the grille and fanlight of the door; the window joinery has been replaced except on the ground floor. This ensemble has been protected as a monument since 2005.
