Commissioned in 1923 in the new administrative district of the rebuilt town, the chamber of commerce building was entrusted to the architect Pierre Leprince-Ringuet, assisted by Ernest Herscher. The façade, in brick and cast stone and adorned with low-relief sculptures representing commerce, industry and abundance, belongs to neo-regionalism, whereas the interior reflects more of the Art Deco taste, notably with the black-and-white stained-glass windows by the master glassmaker Auguste Labouret. The hall, the grand staircase with its wrought-iron handrail, the council chamber and the library have retained their original decoration and furnishings. The building was listed as a historic monument by order of 16 February 2009.
