Transformer station XIV of 1923-1924, with an Art Deco façade, one of a series of brick electricity substations built in the 1920s and 1930s for the Société d'Électricité de l'Escaut, each with its own façade design. As the permit application is missing from the archives, the architect is not known; the design may have been entrusted to Joseph Hertogs, the company's in-house architect from 1907 until his death. Of a single storey under a flat roof, squeezed between taller houses, the compact volume has a façade of red hand-moulded brick, with blue stone for the plinth and white stone or imitation stone for the lintels, sills, frieze and cornice. The symmetrical composition combines a round-arched door in a heavy stepped brick surround, a triple window on strong corbels and a low-relief frieze, between stepped piers, bearing in stacked registers the company's name and "POSTE N°14". The geometric ironwork of the triple window survives; the door has been replaced in metal. The substation is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
