Town house in the Art Deco style designed in 1932 by the architect Jan Sels for I. Van der Meusen, in a style very recognisable for this local architect, within a series of adjoining houses he designed in the middle of the street (nos 35 to 45); with nos 37, 43 and 45 it forms a group of façades in ornamental Art Deco. Of two bays and two storeys under a fish-scale slate pseudo-mansard, it has a rhythmic, geometric red-brick façade on a blue-stone plinth, crowned by a brick gable in a fan-shaped bond. The emphasis is on the first floor, with a central saucer-shaped balcony of white stone decorated with low-relief stars, above a squat white-stone ground floor; the polygonal openings with chamfered corners, the fluted piers and the capitals with stylised floral and S motifs reinforce the geometry. Only the wooden front door, with a wrought-iron grille stylising a fountain, is original. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
