Apartment building in the Art Deco style on the roundabout of Jan Van Rijswijcklaan, on the corner of Desguinlei, built to a design by the architect Léon Stynen for the public limited company Home Van Rijswijck; the Antwerp contractor Van Riel & Van den Bergh erected its reinforced-concrete structure. The first design of June 1931, in a matter-of-fact modernism, was followed in January 1932 by a second design whose all-stone façade reflects, according to the inventory, a more conventional approach, in a pared-down Art Deco adapted to its surroundings. Seven storeys plus a roof storey high and ten bays wide, the strongly vertical façade has regular rectangular windows in continuous surrounds and cantilevered upper floors on stepped corbels; the rounded corner is opened up over its full height. The tall blind attic crowning the cantilevered block, added in the last design phase, carries a flagpole and seven almost life-size figures carved in high relief, men and women in an antique manner, whose maker is unknown; the entrance bears the inscription "Residentie Van Ryswyck". A recent renovation renewed the windows and the entrance hall and created a penthouse, and the ironwork with its Art Deco diamond pattern has almost entirely been lost. It is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
