An apartment building with a clothing shop in a restrained Art Deco style, on the corner of Begijnenstraat and Sint-Rochusstraat, built in two phases for the tailor Frederik Verheyden to designs by the architect Eugène Wattiez of 1924 and 1931. The six-bay corner building was erected in 1924 by the contractor Petrus Van Hees; the two right-hand bays on Begijnenstraat were added in 1931, when the shop was enlarged. The cemented facade imitating stone facing is enhanced with flat decorative reliefs and garlands in the Art Deco style; of the original shopfront only the cast-iron colonnettes survive. A niche in the side facade holds an eighteenth-century wooden Virgin and Child, restored in 2004-2005.
