Apartment building in sober Art Deco, built for François-Xavier Straehl to a 1935 design by the architect Paul Smekens; planned with four storeys, it gained a fifth through a second permit application. Close to brick modernism, it recalls Art Deco only in its rising three-sided bay window, the wave-patterned rustication of the ground floor and the crowning façade stone. The red-brick façade with Dudok joints on a bluestone plinth is lined by continuous sills and wide windows. It is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
