Group of six town houses in a matter-of-fact Art Deco style ("zakelijke art-decostijl"), built after a 1931 design by the architects Vincent Cols and Jules De Roeck; three were built on behalf of the architects themselves (no. 35 for Cols, nos. 33 and 39 for De Roeck) and the others for G. Maes, J. della Faille de Waerloos and A. De Roeck, by the contractor F. Van de Velde of Boom. According to the inventory, the row is representative of the matter-of-fact character, between Art Deco and modernism, of the practice's architecture from the 1930s. Grouped in mirrored pairs on the pattern C-B-A-A-B-C, the houses of two unequal bays and three storeys under a flat roof follow exactly the same bel-étage plan. The façades of yellow or wine-red brick on a bluestone plinth, with alternating cornice heights, emphasise the wider bay, marked on the bel-étage by a three-sided bay window; the two central houses stand out with a stone ground floor and a bay window in imitation stone over two floors. The original steel windows have all been renewed; a few wooden doors and garage doors with iron grilles survive. The houses are recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
