Art Deco apartment building that the architect Edward Van Not built on his own account to a 1927 design; it was his second property investment in this block, after the "Résidence Plantin" of 1922. With the neighbouring Cassiers and Hoskens buildings, the "Résidence Plantin" and the Van der Avoort building, it belongs to a group of Art Deco blocks for which Van Not drew the plans between 1922 and 1927, and which the inventory counts among the first generation of high-standing high-rise flats built in Antwerp after the First World War. The slender two-bay building has a basement and six storeys under a flat roof; as required, the façade is faced with white stone on a bluestone plinth, and its asymmetrical, strongly vertical composition is marked by giant pilasters crowned with stepped pedestals, with a three-sided bay rising over four storeys in the left-hand bay. According to the inventory, the Art Deco character lies mainly in the trapezoidal shape of the ground-floor window, porch and balcony, the stepped profiling of the pedestals and gargoyles and the ironwork of the balcony railing; the original door has gone and the joinery has been renewed. The building, which keeps a lift installed in 1930 by E. Thièry, is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
