Art Deco apartment house that the architect Ferdinand Van Mierlo, whose name is inscribed on the façade, built on his own account to a 1929 design; an extra storey, applied for two months after the first application, was refused. The inventory links the building to the personal Art Deco style the architect developed around 1925, recognisable by pilaster articulation or pediment crownings and the typical profiling of the stone elements. Terraced, of two unequal bays and four storeys under a flat roof, the house has a cornice façade of natural stone and red brick in cross bond on a bluestone plinth; the double entrance and the entrance projection are crowned by blind mitre-arched pediments, while a semicircular bow window with giant pilasters rises over the upper floors of the side bay. The mitre arch recurs in the angled profile of the pilasters, breastworks and sills, and grooved profiles with rolls and beading decorate the jambs, lintels and breastworks; the wooden joinery of the windows and doors, with wrought-iron grilles, survives. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
