Town house in the "zakelijk" (functional) Art Deco style, built in 1935 for the grain merchant Gerard Schilperoort to designs by the architect Joan Coninck Westenberg, his brother-in-law; the inventory sees in it the architect's development towards a more sober vocabulary. Of two bays and three storeys under a flat roof, the house has a facing of yellow sand-faced brick, with white stone reserved for the decorative elements, on a blue-stone base. The first floor is dominated by a wide, heavy bay window whose mullions are decorated with Art Deco floral motifs, in an otherwise unornamented façade, and bands of white stone underline its horizontality. The pine front door, with a small window and wrought iron, is original. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
