The Agricultural Institute was built in 1937 in the southern part of the Arenberg park for the University of Leuven. Canon Raymond Lemaire presented the design in February 1936, based on an earlier plan by Van Himbeeck, working with the engineer-architect Frans De Lange. A monumental Art Deco concrete building faced with brown-red brick, it is marked by its very open facades, articulated by crenellated pseudo-pilasters, and by its projecting entrance pavilion. Inside, the monumental Neo-Byzantine stairwell is adorned with a tile picture by Lou Asperslag depicting Demeter, dated 1938. It has been a protected monument since 2010.
