Maison Art déco, Aarselestraat 27 — Tielt

Art Deco house with a garage in Aarsele, built according to the land registry in 1934 on an undeveloped plot: a broad-fronted brick house under a gable roof of machine-made tiles, with rectangular openings under concrete lintels. Its Art Deco character lies in the geometric cornice and cement-rendered plinth, the three-part upper window set between projecting vertical piers on a wide stepped bracket, and the slightly recessed stepped entrance. The characteristic joinery survives, including windows with horizontal glazing bars and an elaborately worked garage door with roll mouldings, partly filled with cathedral glass. It is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
