Maison Art déco, Handbalstraat 4 — Gand

Terraced house in a pared-down Art Deco style, built according to the 1923 building application to designs by the architect Georges Cosyns (Ledeberg) for M. Vermeire. The two-bay, three-storey yellow-brick façade on a bluestone plinth is enlivened by pilaster strips, an attic with a triangular pseudo-pediment and lozenge motifs in brick; a slightly curved brick oriel marks the first floor. The rendered ground floor bears stylised floral motifs around the window and the round-arched door.
