Apartment building whose Art Deco façade on the Kipdorpvest results from the extension and conversion, to a 1922 design by the architect Ferdinand Van Mierlo for the owner Eugène Lemmens, of a complex running through to the Frankrijklei, which then comprised six flats above a commercial ground floor. The original building on the Frankrijklei, with a Beaux-Arts façade by Jan Frans Sel-Caluwaerts (1910), was demolished in 2017-2018 for a new block; the Art Deco part on the Kipdorpvest was kept, except for the rear wing, and renovated at the same time with a new rear façade. Its natural-stone cornice façade, of four storeys under a flat roof, is according to the inventory representative of Van Mierlo's early Art Deco: Art Deco mouldings divide it into a ground floor, upper storeys and an attic with a classical entablature, its right half forms a three-sided bay window, and bead mouldings and tendrils decorate the breastworks of the recessed upper windows. The 2013 inventory text recorded as surviving the wooden joinery of the windows, with small glazing bars in the transoms, and of the doors with wrought-iron grilles. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
