Art Deco apartment building and garage, designed in 1927 by the architect Raymond Ceurvorst for Frans Van Oorschot, who in 1929 set up in the newly completed garage a car-hire firm with chauffeurs, turned in 1933 into the taxi company Antwerp-Tax, still based in the building. On a reinforced-concrete frame, the six-storey façade with cornice in red brick and imitation stone, strongly vertical, emphasises the wide side bay, marked over four storeys by a bow window topped by a balcony. Floral tendrils, medallions, wavy panels, dentils and stepped profiles are typical of early Art Deco; the two-level garage with a ramp occupies a large inner plot. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
