Art Deco apartment building erected for Israel Zucker to a 1934 design by the architects Karel Van Riel and Maurice Janssens, at the corner of Maria-Theresialei and Quellinstraat, overlooking the Stadspark; the contractor Gustaaf Moons completed the works in 1935. The eight-storey building over a basement, with a reinforced-concrete frame, owes its dynamism to the rounded corner, the floating effect of the projecting upper section and the interplay of advancing and receding planes. The ten-bay façade combines white natural stone and red brick on a blue-stone plinth, with discreet Art Deco ornament. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
