Art Deco town house built for A. Pirenne to a 1928 design by the architects Jan Vanhoenacker, John Van Beurden and Jos Smolderen, partners from 1920 to around 1930; the inventory considers it representative of their joint output. Terraced, of two unequal bays and four storeys under a flat roof, it has an asymmetrical natural-stone cornice façade: the wide side bay forms a taller projecting section, marked on the two main floors by a semicircular bay window with a balcony. The sober facing carries a discreet relief of stepped mouldings, panels and fluted friezes, with flower baskets above the door and in the crowning. The wooden joinery and the wrought iron of the door and window grilles survive; the fairly well preserved interior keeps its white and black marble entrance hall and a wooden staircase beneath a multicoloured stained-glass skylight. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
