Nicknamed "Compas", this Art Deco apartment building was built in 1930 to a design by the architect A. Vereecke of Middelkerke and executed by the contractor D. Coppens, as the inscription on the plinth records. A corner building near the Graaf de Smet de Naeyer bridge, it rests on a concrete frame and its design was adapted to the large difference in level between the two streets. The window bays are accentuated by three-sided oriels rising above the cornice, and the parapets are decorated with Art Deco figures. It is part of an interwar ensemble that has been protected as a monument since 2005.
