Town house in the Art Deco style built for Dr Art. Cornette to a 1926 design by the architect Joseph de Lange; the client can probably be identified as the lawyer, man of letters and art historian Arthur Henry Cornette, chief curator of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp from 1924. The house is representative of the moderate Art Deco towards which de Lange's architecture evolved in the mid-1920s. The three-bay cornice façade, in red brick laid in an expressive bond on a bluestone plinth, sets a rusticated ground floor below a two-storey bow window flanked by fluted pilasters with reinterpreted Corinthian capitals; the wrought-iron door by the J. Gowie workshop survives. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
