Spacious semi-detached town house in Deurne, designed in 1929 for J. Smits; the permit file names neither the architect nor the contractor. This Art Deco design, clearly influenced by the Amsterdam School, combines brown brick facing on a bluestone plinth with rendered, white-painted surrounds, under a high red-tiled hipped roof. The corner porch with its pier bears the name "VILLA JOSE" in a cartouche; porch, oriels and windows are decorated with rendered panels in pure Art Deco style, and the ironwork repeats the motif of the surviving front-garden railing. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
