Double apartment residence known as the "Palais du Comte Jean", after the inscription on the cornice, built in 1929 on the Blankenberge sea front opposite the Pier, in a rich Art Deco style to plans by the Brussels architect Armand de Saulnier, signed on 18 October 1928, whose signature appears on the central pilaster. The client was the Compagnie belge d'entreprises immobilières, which built flats there for sale; the name refers to the Graaf Jansdijk behind it. The building of twice five bays and eight storeys under a flat roof, the only one on the sea front with a forecourt, has an expressive façade of alternately projecting and recessed bays (bay windows and balconies), in yellow and red brick and natural stone; the bay windows end in turrets with pediment-like tops above the broad cornice. The rich carved stone ornament includes coats of arms and the letters "J" and "C" on the central pilaster, the inscription "Anno 1929", seahorses below the cornice and in the bay windows and shells at the top of the bay windows; the wrought-iron balcony railings, the entrance vestibule and the lift cage survive. The building has been protected as a monument since 2003.
