Art Deco apartment building with business premises, built for Theo Van Linden-Verstraete, whose firm dealt in plate and window glass and ran an art-glass workshop, to a 1928 design by the architects Jan Vanhoenacker, John Van Beurden and Jos Smolderen; the Antwerp contractor Jules Somers carried out the work. The inventory considers it representative of the Art Deco these partners deployed in their residential architecture of the 1920s. The complex comprises a terraced house of two unequal bays and four storeys under a flat roof and, behind it, a warehouse occupying the rest of the plot, one storey high under a glass roof in the middle and two storeys at the back. The cornice façade of yellow brick, in cross bond and brick-on-edge courses, with natural stone for the ground floor and the bay windows, contrasts a flat ground floor for business use with residential upper storeys articulated by giant pilasters and pilaster strips and marked by a rising three-sided bay window; the carriage entrance flanking the private entrance carries a decorative keystone bearing the client's initial V. The wrought-iron door, carriage gate and window grilles survive in full, the wooden window frames largely. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
