Art Deco commercial building erected for the Établissements Gérard Koninckx Frères (GFK), a wholesaler of exotic fruit that mainly imported citrus fruit from Spain and bananas from the Belgian Congo, to a 1935 design by architects Alfred and Donald Portielje. On a reinforced-concrete frame, the sober, almost symmetrical corner façade combines orange-red brick, white natural stone for the oriels and bluestone for the ground floor, window surrounds and cornice; the rounded corner, raised slightly to carry the enlarged company logo, is flanked by the name Gérard Koninckx Frères in individual metal letters. The ground floor housed a sales hall or warehouse, the upper floors the offices; the wrought-iron doors with octagon and spiral motifs, as well as the marble-clad entrance hall and main staircase, are preserved. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
