A new hospital built in 1926 in the Art Deco style to designs by the Dendermonde city architect Fernand de Ruddere and the Ghent architect Jean-Norbert Cloquet, on the site of the Saint Blaise hospice destroyed by fire in 1914. The wing parallel to the Kerkstraat, eighteen bays wide and two storeys high, is articulated by broad pilaster strips and three segmental gables bearing the dates "1914" and "1926"; its brick facade is enlivened by white-painted rendered panels on a bluestone plinth. To the west, the south-facing chapel by the same architects uses the same materials and ornament. Renovated in 1996, the buildings now house the administrative centre of the public social welfare centre (OCMW) and a hall of the Belgica cultural centre.
