Monumental eight-storey Art Deco social housing complex around an inner courtyard, built between 1928 and 1932 by the Antwerpse Maatschappij van Goedkope Woningen to designs by the brothers Hippoliet and Jules De Vos. Its innovative reinforced-concrete frame on piles was built by the firm Van Riel and Van den Bergh. The 25-bay brick façade on a bluestone plinth is articulated by two gateways and five entrance bays marked by triangular bay windows over four storeys. Partly destroyed by a V1 bomb during the Second World War, it was restored to its original state by Gustave Fierens, with work starting in 1949. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
