Home for the elderly built for the Public Assistance Commission to a 1927 Art Deco design by the architect Frits de Mont, through the conversion and extension of the earlier De Grooff almshouse of 1877. The works, carried out by the contractor Algemeene Bouwwerken Jules Somers & C°, began in 1928 and were completed by 1930 at the latest; an L-shaped wing on the courtyard housed twenty-one rooms reached by open galleries. The five-bay façade with cornice, in red brick alternating with cement bands imitating natural stone, is articulated by tall segmental-arched windows adorned with floral Art Deco reliefs, and the round-arched entrance retains its wrought-iron door.
