Antwerp
Antwerp — Jan Van Rijswijcklaan and Arthur Goemaerelei, Art Deco houses and apartment buildings
Between Jan Van Rijswijcklaan, Arthur Goemaerelei and the neighbouring streets, this walk brings together town houses, rental houses, apartment buildings and a church, built between 1920 and 1941. Façades with oriels, often in natural stone, and the bow window of the Jussiant house display an Art Deco that is by turns floral and geometric, alongside the tall concrete-framed buildings of François Dens or of Edouard Bilmeyer and Henry Claes. Jef Huygh's Saint Lawrence church, with its copper dome, adds an Art Deco inspired by the Byzantine style.
