Apartment building in the "zakelijk" (functional) Art Deco style, designed in 1939 by the architect Joan Coninck Westenberg for the ship broker John P. Eastwick, brother-in-law of the writer Willem Elsschot; the contractor was the firm Jos. Bossaerts. Wind- and watertight in the summer of 1939, it was only completed after the Second World War. Of five bays, over a basement and three storeys under a flat roof, it groups six flats, two per floor, laid out as mirror images. The unornamented cornice façade, in yellow sand-faced brick over a ground floor faced with white stone, is articulated by long horizontal strips alternating window registers and brick sections, with projecting surrounds around the entrance and the living rooms. The wrought-iron entrance door and fanlight survive; the other steel window frames have been replaced. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
