In 1927 the architect Alfons Van Braekel designed a house for himself in Zurenborg, in a restrained Art Deco style. He drew it as a double dwelling, with the top floor forming a separate rental unit with its own front door on the right. The three-bay, three-storey facade combines a blue stone ground floor, red brick upper floors, a three-sided oriel and a glazed canopy. The front doors have geometric Art Deco wrought ironwork, and all details are well preserved.
