Ghent — from Tentoonstellingslaan to Hertstraat

In Ghent, this route brings together twelve Art Deco buildings from 1923 to 1932. On Tentoonstellingslaan it passes the corner house of the plumbing and heating contractor Charles Meurisse (1925), whose oriel bears his initials, the house and the corner building Charles Hoge designed for Ch. De Potter (application of 1923), the latter in white Silesian brick under a dome, Georges Merlé’s Vander Linden apartment building (1932), whose entrance projection is crowned by a sundial relief, and two 1924 houses with trapezoidal oriels, including the one Jules Van den Hende designed to house part of Albert D’Havé’s staff. It then reaches a house by Jules Lippens (1925) on Hendrik Waelputstraat and the Villa Le Paon (1925), which Emile De Nil designed for his father, then Hofstraat, with a 1929 house whose joinery is largely preserved and two 1930 houses, by Robert Collenaere and by Charles Bar, city architect of Ghent. It ends on Hertstraat at Emiel Hoebeke’s semi-detached houses (1929).
