Art Deco town house built in Deurne to a 1932–1933 design by the architect Jan Sels for Jacob Martinus Matthijssens-Clarin, and extended in 1936 to plans by the same architect, whose name is inscribed on the façade. It is the middle house of a group of three, nos. 76 and 80 being by Benoit Dupont, which stands out in the street for its pronounced use of white natural stone. The two-bay, two-storey cornice façade, in red brick on a high bluestone plinth, shows Sels's characteristic vocabulary: a ground floor and a shell-shaped crowning faced in white stone, a four-light bow window and carved ogee arches. Above the entrance a low relief depicts a packet steamer; the geometric wrought iron, the ground-floor stained glass and, inside, the polychrome vestibule and stair hall with Winckelmans tiles and stained glass with a stylised peacock survive. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
