Art Deco apartment building designed in 1935 by the architects Karel Van Riel and Maurice Janssens for the dowager countess Oscar Le Grelle, née Marie de Gruben, who had the family's town mansion demolished to build it; planned with seven storeys, it lost one floor before work began and contained twelve flats. Built with a reinforced-concrete frame, the fully symmetrical façade, in red brick with recessed joints, white natural stone, artificial stone (Terra Nova) and a bluestone plinth, is divided into ground floor, upper floors and a set-back attic storey, marked by string courses. The vertical rhythm of the upper floors comes from the three-sided bay windows of the broad side bays and the central recess with chevron-shaped breastworks; the entrance hall keeps its marble floor and panelling. It is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
