Ensemble originally made up of three linked multi-family houses in sober Art Deco, built under a 1920 permit application by the contractors Jos and Frans Stevens for Jan Van Gelderen; the brothers probably also drew the plans. Each house stacks two two-level dwellings, each with its own entrance, a type unusual in Belgium, in a style closely related to the Amsterdam School. The red-brick façade in decorative bond, on a rusticated bluestone base, retains its chevron-patterned joinery and green leaded glass; the left-hand house was disfigured by a conversion in 1967-1968. The ensemble is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
