Apartment building in the Art Deco style on the corner of Isabellalei and Lange Leemstraat, erected for the property company Comptoir Général du Bâtiment, chaired by Armand Janssens, after a 1928 design by the architect Paul Dries; begun in 1929 and completed in the autumn of 1932, it comprised 96 modest flats sold in co-ownership and 11 shops. It is thirty metres and nine storeys high. The wedge-shaped, reinforced-concrete-framed building, of fifteen, three and thirteen bays, emphasises the head elevation, whose axis is marked by a bay window rising over six floors and crowned by a stepped roof pavilion topped by a streamlined pinnacle; the city, which closely supervised the project, imposed several changes of materials during construction, including the yellow Belvédère brick. The ground-floor cladding of black marbrite glass with white joints from the Verreries de Fauquez, laid by the Paul Luypaerts firm, survives in full, as do the panelled wooden doors with a floral motif; the masonry has been painted cream and the windows almost entirely renewed. It is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
